This sauce makes enough for two meals for four people. It freezes well and is a great standby. You can add a tin of red kidney beans and use it in taco shells or burritos. Layer it with cheese sauce or souboise sauce and pasta for lasagne.
3 or 4 cloves of garlic
2 or 3 rashers of bacon
2 bottles of passata (tomato cooking sauce)
small container of tomato paste.
Saute chopped onions and garlic till soft, add chopped bacon, you can add sliced mushrooms at this point if you have them. Once everything is soft and fragrant add the mince and brown.
Pour in two bottles of passata and the small container of tomato paste. (if you don’t have tomato paste leave it out.) Bring to a boil and simmer for an hour and half to two hours.
I cook this all the time, its so simple, tastes great and feeds everyone so easily.
