One lonely Wisteria flower in 2011

Wisteria – One flower only this year, this lonely one.  The plant grew like a weed overtaking the verandah assaulting the roof.  So I attacked with the secateurs chopping it right back, letting the light back in. Believing that Wisteria won’t flower in South East Queensland. But look at this one brave flower.

Now I have learned that Wisteria flowers on the old wood.  You cut the plant into shape and keep it trimmed to where you want it and the flowers will grow on the old wood.

Next year I’m believing for lots of beautiful fragrent Wisteria flowers.
